At K International School Tokyo (KIST), students from Kindergarten (K1) to Grade 12 are provided with a consistent International Baccalaureate (IB) education. The IB programs are globally recognized for fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills in students. In this article, we will introduce the characteristics of each program offered at KIST.
1. Primary Years Program (PYP)
Students from K1 to G5 study the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP). The PYP aims to foster independent learning and thinking through inquiry-based learning. It also emphasizes the development of foundational academic skills, such as literacy and mathematics.
Lower Secondary Program (LSP)
From G6 to G8, students progress to KIST's unique Lower Secondary Program (LSP). In this program, students prepare to delve into more specialized academic fields, deepen their understanding of various subjects, and strengthen their critical thinking skills.
IGCSE Program
Students in G9 and G10 follow a curriculum based on the Cambridge International Examinations (IGCSE). In this phase, students choose their future academic focus areas and engage in learning that aligns with their interests and goals.
Diploma Program (DP)
Students in G11 and G12 undertake the challenging International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program (DP), which is recognized globally for its difficulty. The DP involves university-level advanced content, and students refine practical skills through activities such as writing extended essays and participating in volunteer work.
